APPEALS AND POST CONVICTION MATTERS Academic and judicial experience are at the core of a successful appellate lawyer. Mr. Budreau has taught for both Harvard University Law School and Northeastern University School of Law. Additionally, he clerked for a judge. Consequently, Mr. Budreau brings honed academic analysis together with his practical trial experience for every case he defends. This experience has translated into success at the trial, post conviction and appellate levels. See Selected Verdicts. Most recently, Mr. Budreau reversed a client's conviction in a drug conspiracy case. See United States Azubike, 06-2255 (2007). This case was remanded back to the U.S. District Court for a new trial based upon prosecutorial misconduct. In addition to reversing cases in the First and Eleventh Circuit Courts of Appeals as well as the Massachusetts appellate courts, Mr. Budreau has reversed numerous convictions through motions to vacate and new trials. At any given time, Mr. Budreau presently has numerous appeals or motions for post conviction relief at various stages in state and federal appellate courts throughout the country. Most involve substantial constitutional issues, while others are raising technical matters relating to statutory construction, sentencing errors and questions of sufficiency. Contact Information The Law Office of James Budreau is located in Suite 905 of the Statler Building which is centrally located in Boston across from the Four Seasons Hotel.
